Hello from Ava Jean the Beauty Queen

Ava here! Mama gave me a whole page on her blog to tell you stories! I am so excited!

I guess I should start at the beginning!

In May of 2018, I was found wandering the streets of Spartanburg, injured and skinny. I was picked up by some nice people and taken to Greenville County Animal Care. It was there that my life began to look up!

I had a very bad booboo on my bum when I was found. The humans called it a “prolapsed rectum” and it hurted a lot. The nice doctor made me go sleepies and when I woke up my bum was fixed. They also did something called a “spay” while I was sleeping, so I couldn’t make any puppies. My bum still hurt but I felt so much better with things tucked up where they were supposed to be.

Me in the shelter on the left. I was scared but so hopeful because I knew I had so much love to give. That’s my freedom ride photo on the right. I knew someone would see all the love I had to share!

From there, a nice lady named Lori from Pet Tender Angels took me to her house to get better. I met so many awesome people and dogs there. One day a lady came to visit me and asked if she could be my mama. I said YES! Before I could leave Lori, though, I had to get rid of some nasty worms in my heart.

Three months after I was rescued from the streets I went home to my new mama, a fur-brother, an auntie, and two fur-cousins. I bonded to my mama right away. Maybe a little too much…. Every time she left me at the house, even with so many furiends, I would get really scared. I guess you could say I had abandonment issues. Mama took me to a doctor-lady, and they started treating me for separation anxiety. I did some really bad things when I was scared. Mama would get sad, but she never yelled at me because she understood what it felt like to be scared but not really be able to explain why.

Me with my new mama and my new brother, Apollo. Sadly, Apollo went to the bridge a few months after I met him. I still see him but mama doesn’t have good eyes like us doggos so she can’t see him anymore.

I have been with my mama for almost two years. My brother went to the Rainbow Bridge, as did one of my cousins, but I still have a cousin and an aunt at my house.

To help me with my anxiety, mama sends me to school twice a week at a place called Dog Culture. I have soooo many human and doggo friends there and I love to go. Sometimes, I still don’t want to leave my mama but once I get to playin’ I forget all about missing her. I am doing better at home, too. I still take medicine to help me not be so scared while mama is gone but I am getting the hang of the thing where she always comes home to me. I like that part best.
